When Hope Feels Silent

(Easter Series – Week 3 of 4)

Between the cross and the resurrection…there was a day of silence.

No crowds.

No miracles.

No movement.

Just waiting.

Jesus had been crucified. The disciples were scattered. The hope they had placed in Him seemed buried behind a stone. From their perspective, the story had ended.

But what felt like the end… wasn’t.

It was Saturday.

And Saturday is where many leaders live.

Not in the visible breakthrough. Not in the defining moment. But in the space in between.

The space where prayers feel unanswered. Where progress feels stalled. Where nothing seems to be happening.

It’s the quiet tension of waiting on God to move.

Scripture doesn’t give us much detail about that day. And maybe that’s intentional. Because silence is something we all experience. Seasons where God’s work isn’t obvious. Where leadership feels heavy and fruit feels distant.

But silence does not mean absence.

Even when no one could see it, God was still working.

The cross was not failure.

The silence was not final.

The story was not over.

Psalm 30:5 reminds us, “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Saturday is the night.

And every leader who has served faithfully long enough has experienced it.

The meeting that didn’t go as planned.

The effort that didn’t produce immediate results.

The season where growth feels slow and encouragement feels scarce.

In those moments, the temptation is to assume that nothing is happening.

But God often does His deepest work in hidden places.

Roots grow in silence.

Faith is refined in waiting.

Trust is strengthened when outcomes are unclear.

The disciples didn’t know Sunday was coming.

But it was.

And that truth changes how we lead in the silence.

When hope feels quiet, we remain faithful.

When progress feels slow, we stay steady.

When God seems silent, we trust His timing.

Because what feels like an ending may simply be a pause before resurrection.

If you find yourself in a Saturday season, don’t lose heart.

God is still working.

Even when you can’t see it.

Even when you don’t feel it.

Sunday is coming!

Reflection Question

Where in my leadership am I tempted to believe God is silent when He may still be working?
